Open and Distance Learning is a relatively new phenomena in the world of learning. The demands of the new economy requires that education be open that is, available to all sections of the society without the distinctions of caste, economic status, etc; open to all age groups and free from traditional constraints. The ODL movement has, over the years, made considerable inroads in the country especially through the establishment of the National Open University, IGNOU. It has been a change agent, impacting the lives of many in the country who otherwise would have continued to remain unreached in the sphere of higher education. The Regional Centre, established with the objective to provide opportunities to the people of the State of Kerala is one of the oldest ones in the University. It has been providing ODL services in the State for the almost three decades. This work is produced to highlight the tremendous progress IGNOU has made for the enhancement of educational attainment of the students of 6 districts- Alleppey, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kottayam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad and Union Territory of Lakshadweep.
